Christ Lutheran Church is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We have been a part of Lake County since 1978 when a group of individuals first started worshiping in the local school gymnasium. By 1979 we were able to open the doors of our current church building. Over the years we have developed a ministry presence that honors a partnership with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds.
We are an energetic, accepting multi-generational congregation. Our mission is to offer a hospitable and sincere home for everyone on his or her faith journey – a home where you can learn about God’s love and where we jointly discern and grow our relationship with God. You do not need to be a member of this church or a Lutheran to take part in the sacraments. You are welcome to follow the call of Christ to your heart.
Thank you Rev. Amy Becker-Perez for your years of service as the pastor of Christ Lutheran Church. We wish you the best in the next chapter of your life.
Christ Lutheran is blessed by the support of so many pastors in our community.
All are welcome at Christ Lutheran. Visitors are frequent. Children are cherished. When it comes to our worship services, our church “style” mixes familiar, traditional and more contemporary elements, including music and spoken word. Some have said we are rather informal – and we like to say that “church clothes” are whatever we have on.
We are a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), and as Lutherans we believe that the love of God at work in the crucified Christ creates a right relationship. Through God’s grace and the gift of Jesus, we live.
We celebrate God’s love for all creation and we nurture our relationship with our community through acts of compassion and outreach. As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), we support hundreds of social ministry and humanitarian efforts throughout the area and across the globe.
Our local efforts include support of Christian Outreach of Lutherans (COOL) pantries and programs in Waukegan and North Chicago, Bethel New Life programs in West Garfield Park neighborhoods, Feed My Starving Children, Empty Bowls grassroots hunger initiatives, children’s advocacy programs through the Lake County Courthouse, the Project Linus (through our Caring Hands Group), our new Project Warmth ministry to the Chicago streets, and more. We also partner with a variety of community groups, including Boy Scouts, Cub Scouts, AA, AlAnon and others.
